GIFConverter 2.3.3.cpt     ArtDL            AMUG CD:Files:Art:Art Tools:GIFConverter 2.3.3.cpt     2.3.3            0     330K     11/22/93     GIFConverter 2.3.3 - GIFConverter 2.3.3 - GIFConverter lets you display any GIF, JPEG, TIFF, RIFF, MacPaint, Thunderscan, Startupscreen, RLE, or PICT  (even compressed!) file on any Macintosh! Uses color QuickDraw on color  Macintoshes. Changes since 2.3.2 - GIFConverter no longer reports zero  colors when reading some GIF files. This also caused crashes, or errors  saving as GIF. Using command-period to stop the slide show should work on  all machines now. The missing preview picture in EPSF files has been fixed. The units controls in the print margins box now work properly. A bug that  caused crashes when choosing the Enhance command has been fixed. And more!  Shareware.

Pict Convert.cpt         ArtDL            AMUG CD:Files:Art:Art Tools:Pict Convert.cpt                      0      70K     11/10/93     Pict Convert - Pict Convert is a program for converting Pict's to GIF  format. The GIF viewers I've seen don't support AppleEvents, so I needed to come up with a way around that. PictConvert does just that by taking a  folder (or alias to a folder or volume) called "Target Dir", scanning it  for .pict or .PICT files, and lauching "TargetApp" with them. After Target  App opens, Pict Convert "types" a Command-S, the file name, the enter key  and a Command-Q, which gets received by the GIFviewer. (Obviously, this  only works with viewers that default to saving as a .GIF)  After the viewer quits, Pict Convert deletes the original PICT file and goes on to look for  the next... A great timesaver for converting those files!

Censorship "bands" are created on the GIF image and,  when saved, the GIF will retain the bands. Once censored using Keep It  Clean, a GIF can be opened and restored to normal by entering the unlocking password. This application is System 7.0 friendly and supports Balloon Help and AppleEvents. Registered users receive printed manual. Shareware $10.  It's fun censoring friends favorite pictures, or drawing black bands over a friend's eyes. Has many uses!

Zoom Lens 2.0.cpt        ArtDL            AMUG CD:Files:Art:Art Tools:Zoom Lens 2.0.cpt     2.0              0      21K     10/28/93     Zoom Lens 2.0 - Zoom Lens is a small application (around 17K) that  magnifies the portion of the screen under the mouse cursor. The original  version of the program was a desk accessory, but as desk accessories are  less powerful than regular applications and can be awkward to use, I’ve  expanded it into a full application program for use in the background under MultiFinder or System 7. There are a lot of uses for this little program,  ranging from magnifying displays in a drawing program for extra precision,  to enlarging small text to aid the vision-impaired, to just playing around. Hopefully, this new version will be even more useful to an even larger group of people.

This program can open and view GIF, PICT, and MacPaint type  files. It is also able to play sound files produced by Macintosh sound  digitizers. Decodes GIF images two to four times faster than existing  utilities. Can save in GIF or PICT format, and let you copy graphic images  into the clipboard. Registered users will receive by mail a receipt for the amount paid, and a diskette containing a copy of QuickGIF Plus (which adds  the ability to do Slideshows of graphic and sound files). Shareware.

It can acquire, display, edit, enhance, analyze, print and animate images. It reads and writes TIFF, PICT, PICS and MacPaint files, providing compatibility with many other applications, including  programs for scanning, processing, editing, publishing and analyzing  images. It supports many standard image processing functions, including  contrast enhancement, density profiling, smoothing, sharpening, edge  detection, median filtering, and spatial convolution with user defined  kernels up to 63x63. Image can be used to measure area, average gray value, center and angle of orientation of a user defined regions of interest.

It  requires a monitor with the ability to display 256 colors or shades of gray. Image directly supports, or is compatible with, large monitors, flatbed scanners, film recorders, graphics tablets, PostScript laser printers, photo typesetters and color printers. Image 1.52 no longer requires an FPU.

The Media Cataloger allows users to create visual catalogs of files and attach key words to objects. Once a catalog is created, the  product can quickly search for and retrieve files based on criteria defined by the user. This demo version of the product does not allow you to SAVE  your catalogs and it does not allow you to OPEN catalogs created with the  full version of the product. Requires a 68020 or higher, System 7 and 4  megs of memory.

First pick the Telescope f/ratio, then the film's ASA, next pick the area  to be photographed - terminator or limb. Pick the date. The program will  tell you the moon's phase and days, luminance, and exposure time to use.  Handy for photographers!

Save online time by cancelling images you don't  want. This program also has a dithered black-and-white mode for viewing  GIFs on a monochrome system. New version has full GIF87a compliance, GIF89a capability, faster decompression for most files. Dithered color, save  images as PICT files and start-up screens, scale, rotate, invert colors.  2.2.0 adds compatibility with America Online (as well as anything else that downloads files the same way) and also allows you to view embedded comment  text.
GIFFER 1.1.2.CPT         ArtDL            AMUG CD:Files:Art:Art Tools:GIFFER 1.1.2.CPT     1.1.2            0      76K     10/28/93     Giffer 1.1.2 - An image conversion and display program. Giffer is an image  display program for the Macintosh II family of computers. It works best in  256 color (8-bit) mode, but will work in 16 color (4-bit), 4 color (2-bit)  and 2 color (1-bit) modes as well. Giffer also works in 24-bit mode, but  24-bit images will not be displayed in full color (they will be dithered to 256 colors). (GIF currently does not support 24 bits of color, so there  would be no way to save a 24-bit images in GIF.)  It is a memory-intensive  program, so it's nice to have as much memory as you can get to run it.  However, it will run with the standard 1 Meg. Giffer was written as a  utility to display images stored in GIF, or Graphics Interchange Format.

The snapshop is placed in the  clipboard for easy pasting into documents. Since the snapshot saves to the  clipboard, you can only take one picture at a time.

I have made the side margins narrow so as  to accommodate thermal printers such as QMS, Oce’, etc. I found after much  and very costly trial and error, that it is very difficult if not  impossible to accurately predict what the color will look like when  outputed by your local service bureau. This is even more complicated when  combining scanned color images with spot color elements. I have developed a technique that seems to save the many iterations necessary to get what the  color you want. Read the docs for more information on color calibration.

Useful where size is an  important consideration, e.g. when composing descriptions of files to  upload to CompuServe, pasting large pictures, etc. There are several ways  to install the FKEY, depending on how you organise your disk. You can use  Suitcase or MasterJuggler to open the FKEY file, or if you prefer you can  use a FKEY moving utility (such as the FKEY Manager) to copy it into a  large FKEY file, or the System file. You could also use ResEdit to copy the FKEY resource into your System file. The default for this F-Key is  cmd-shift-7 (can be reassigned).

This is nothing revolutionary but I do hope it will help  inspire others. This upload contains two files. A 750x900 greyscale PICT  file that is JPEGed using Quicktime 1.5 and a Microsoft Word file  describing the method used to create the image. These files are free but I  would appreciate a post card.

This  gorgeous image was modeled and rendered by Steve Speer using Sculpt 3D from Byte by Byte Corporation.  The motorcycle (or "hog" if you prefer) is  extremely detailed and realistic, with dozens if not hundreds of parts, yet Mr. Speer constructed it all in under a day. The image was raytraced at  2,048 x 1,536 resolution in under 2 hours on a Quadra 900 with a  YARC  coprocessor. Would've been faster if not for the bump map, too. This image  is QuickTime JPEG compressed; you can view it with TeachText or any other  PICT viewer.

The trick to creating a nice fractal  in my opinion is to make sure the colors are separated enough to see the  details of the fractal. Some people do not take the time to get it right.   I believe I have taken that time...lots of hours to be exact Of course all  of this is subjective and I am merely giving you my own opinion....so if  you disagree so be it....that is your right. I hope you enjoy viewing this  image as I do.

What you got here is a  nifty 512x384 pixel image (great for 12" startups)  of a "comment" on the  nature of today's computer person.  Like me. 32 bit quickdraw picture.  No  kidding. Lettering modeled and ray-traced in Specular Infini-D 2.0  I could list the fonts used, but I doubt anyone would be particularly interested.  The hex code in the background was taken from a screen snapshot in Norton  Disk Editor. Manipulated, recolored, and pasted into the text with Adobe  Photoshop. This was all painstakingly slow since all I've got is an LC (LC  1 to avoid confusion with the two new ones).

I scanned this mess, and  cleaned it up using scanning software and MacPaint. I'm surprised the end  result looks as good as it does.

This image was created using 2 of  Sculpt's unique tools:  Subdivide, which doubles the resolution of a  surface, and Randomize, which provides controlled, yet random,   perturbation of the surface. This model took a good five minutes to  construct, not including the time required to make the color map in  Photoshop.  It's not suitable for framing; it's just a demonstration piece.

Fonts are hinted so that they print better  in the smaller size ranges. Hinting in this case has been incorporated into these recycle logos so that they will print better on your output device.  I’ve seen so many recycle logos on the networks, they’re all different, and they all have slight variations from very bad auto-traced versions to  fairly good reproductions. These should be the optimum ones to use.

I  couldn't quite believe how all the screen grabbing utilities always stopped working every time a new version of System software or a new machine came  out.  So, thinking to myself "how hard can it be?" I wrote the UltraGrabber FKEY. It has two basic "modes," one is the standard crosshair cursor, where you drag out the rectangle of the area you want to grab. That area of the  screen is instantly placed in the clipboard as a PICT. UltraGrabber can  also operate in a fixed-size mode, for grabbing areas of specific size  (like 32x32, 16x16, QuickTime movie sized, etc.).

Printing will not  work correctly with version 6 of the LaserWriter drivers.

It says "Macintosh Quadra. When wicked fast isn't fast  enough." The motto belongs to Frank Casanova, the manager of 'Wicked Fast  Products' inside Apple... the division that created the now-gone IIfx and  the Quadra 700, 900, and new 950. The Mac IIfx was the first 'wicked fast'  machine, and it was succeeded by the Quadra family, hence the motto. I used the official Apple Garamond typeface so it looks 'Apple-Authentic.'  Simply unstuff this file, drop it into your System Folder, and have fun!

PICT files will be in plaintext,   MacPaint files in bold. Clicking on any file in the list will display it,  and clicking anywhere in the picture will dismiss it. Clicking on the  button 'Change Folder'  will let you select another folder. Clicking on the button 'Display Palette' will display a floating palette which will allow  you to move next and previous,and start, pause and continue a slide show of all the images.

I got the idea from an old Saturday Night Live commercial. In it the final  scene pictures a backwards Apple logo with the colors rearranged. The logo  I made is about as close to Apple's colors without breaking their copyright protection, but Microsoft probably will get away with breaking other Apple  copyright, so I'm not worried!  ;-) Hope you like it.

Its function and features are based on  my experience in producing magazines, and are aimed at simplifying the  process of page layout as well as tagging the art for the litho prep  process. After years of scaling photographs with a calculator, scratchpad  and tracing paper, I decided to program a new approach. If you’re using  Quark Xpress and a scanner to lay out publications with reflective  originals, then you may not find Proportion Calculator as useful as someone using PageMaker or even traditional keyline methods.
